Happy Mardi Gras!

by Brian Holcomb | February 25th, 2009

I hope everyone’s had a good Fat Tuesday before the fasting of Lent sets in tomorrow!  We had something of a Mardi Gras party here at the house where Mrs. Magee prepared for us chocolate chip pancakes, lemonade, and a special drink called Limoncello.

I know that this is going to prove a very special Lent and Easter this year.  Starting tomorrow, one can go to a different church everyday for Mass.  That way, one can get around to all of the different churches that are in Rome that one might not otherwise see (I’m presuming).  I’m also inclined to think that the Masses are in English because this program is orchestrated through the Pontifical North American College.

I just wanted to thank everyone who’s either left a comment, sent a message via Facebook, or sent me an e-mail.  I would especially like to thank Donna and Alice for their notes I received in the mail the other day.  All of these correspondences have been very encouraging for me as I have made my transition over here.  Everything’s new and exciting, true, but it’s still a strange place nonetheless.

  1. Brian,

Chocolate Chip Pancakes – yum!! Now that’s a good reason to call the day Fat Tuesday just before you start the fasting. Sounds like Mr. Magee has been really good to you guys. I really appreciate his help in the delivery of your package.

I know you are especially excited about visiting the other churches and attending the Mass. Another great opportunity to relish. This is a very special time of year and this blessing will only enhance it for you. I am eagerly awaiting Easter, Spring and our special delivery of baby Jenna. God is so good!

Keep the stories and pictures coming – We love you lots,
    Mom

    Brian,

You have been Blessed again. With a great family, friends and now the Blessing of being able to take part in this great experience of coming closer to Christ not only in Spirit but to see and be close to The Pope and the Church.

The words you use about the Polish people here in Weirton and the ones their was very true. God’s Blessings, and may this walk with Christ bring you into his fold forever. PS We miss you here.
